Sharing the Journey Cancer Survivorship Conference
The 2009 Sharing the Journey Cancer Survivors’ Conference Committee would like to thank all of you who joined us for this year’s conference on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Thank you to all of the participants, volunteers and presenters. It was a wonderful and inspirational day!
This full-day community education program is offered for free every year to the public and features a variety of speakers on cancer-related topics. The day began with Fr. Nick Mezacapa who shared an inspirational, entertaining and hilarious presentation. Nick brought warmth, insight, inspiration and hope to all of us facing the cancer journey. Thank you Nick! Breakout sessions throughout the day explored the side effects of cancer from both a physical and emotional viewpoint.
Every year, we are proud to bring together physicians and other experts in the field of oncology, as well as psychologists, social workers and others from the community to offer sessions on a wide variety of topics including genomics, interventional radiology, nutrition, meditation, finances, depression and anxiety, cancer under 40, faith, spiritual and ethical wills, music therapy, cancer related fatigue, and navigating the health care system. Thanks to ALL of the wonderful presenters who offered their time and expertise to us! Our goal for the conference is to expand your knowledge and provide an opportunity for you to share your experience and connect with other survivors. We hope we provided you with information and support that will be helpful to you and your family.
We look forward to seeing you in Spring 2010 for our next Sharing the Journey Cancer Survivors’ Conference! If you would like to be involved with helping to plan next year’s conference, please call (678) 843-5051.
