Saint Joseph’s Hospital has one of the most advanced
thoracic oncology programs in the region. The
program includes early detection screenings, a
nurse navigator, the most advanced diagnostic
procedures including ultrasound guided bronchial
and esophageal biopsies, light-induced flourescent
endoscopy (LIFE) and advanced treatment options
from robotic-assisted, minimally-invasive, image-guided
radiation, Gamma Knife4C for brain surgery without
the knife, to a dedicated unit for oncology and
thoracic patients, an advanced digestive disease
center and highly-trained, experienced surgeons,
pulmonologists, nurses, pastoral and palliative
care givers.
Saint Joseph’s recently received a $5 million
dollar gift from a patient’s family to establish
the Erb Cancer Center that provides for adding
cancer research projects in conjunction with Saint
Joseph’s Research Institute; offering more community
education and nutrition programs; increasing availability
of screenings for indigent and low income patients;
and attracting renowned oncology physicians to
practice at Saint Joseph’s.
