Frequently Asked CPE Questions

1. What types of programs are offered through the North Atlanta CPE Center at Saint Joseph's Hospital?

The North Atlanta CPE Center is accredited to offer programs of Level I, Level II, and Supervisory CPE.

Level I CPE is Introductory CPE and there are four types of programs offered yearly, which include the Full-Time Summer Program which lasts 11 weeks, Fall and Spring Extended Intern Programs lasting 16 weeks on a part-time basis, and the January Intensive Intern Program, which is full time and offers ½ unit of CPE.  Level II typically refers to a year-long full-time residency program, during which time a CPE student can earn four units of CPE. Supervisory CPE is for persons desiring to become certified as a supervisor of clinical pastoral education.  Typically, training last for a minimum of three years, by which time a person strives to be certified as an Associate Supervisor. Certification to become a Full Supervisor typically takes a minimum of 5 years up to 7 years to successfully pass each Certification status (Readiness, Candidacy, Associate, and Full).

2. What are the dates of each program?

3. What are the application fees and tuition for Level I programs, and what is the stipend for a residency program?

1 Unit requires a $60.00 application fee and $450.00 tuition.  ½ Unit requires $30.00 application fee and $275.00 tuition. The stipend for first year resident is $23,660 with medical benefits; second year resident is $24,660 with medical benefits; and Supervisory CPE stipend is $24,660 with medical benefits for the first year, followed by a $1000 increase each subsequent year for up to two years.

4. What are the steps in making application to each program?
