Five-stars for heart and vascular care
Saint Joseph’s five-star designation by HealthGrades for its excellence in vascular care designates Saint Joseph’s as one of the best in the Sunbelt region for handling carotid endarterectomies and peripheral vascular bypasses. For three consecutive years, Saint Joseph’s is the only hospital in Atlanta to be considered top-rated by HealthGrades.
Vascular surgery
Saint Joseph's vascular program is regarded as one of Georgia's early pioneers in vascular surgery. When it comes to complex vascular surgeries, it's important to know that the hospital you turn to is experienced in performing the procedures, has the demonstrated successful outcomes and uses the most advanced technology and protocols. As one of the busiest vascular centers in the Southeast, Saint Joseph's meets these quality standards.
Vascular surgeries performed at Saint Joseph's include:
- Cerebrovascular surgery
- Aortic aneurysm repair
- Lower extremity bypass
- Dialysis access procedures
- Renal revascularization
- Carotid endarterectomy
Carotid endarterectomy
As one of the busiest vascular centers in the Southeast, Saint Joseph's performs more than 400 carotid endarterectomies a year, with a post-surgical stroke rate lower than the national average.
Vascular rehabilitation
Although cardiac rehabilitiation has been a long-standing part of the cardiac recovery program, vascualar rehabilitation has now gained national recognition for the benefits it brings to individuals with peripheral vascular disease (PVD). Saint Joseph's introduced the city's first vascular rehabilitation program in fall 2004 to help patients with PVD attain their highest functional capability and to halt or reverse the risk factors contributing to the disease.
