Saint Joseph's Mercy Care Services
Taking health care where it’s needed most
Sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and Saint Joseph’s Health System, Mercy Care Services was created in 1985 by volunteer nurses and physicians and grew from modest beginnings into a “medical home” that provides an efficient, integrated system of primary health care, education and social services reaching thousands of persons in need throughout Atlanta each year.
Our clinics

Mercy Care Services operates four fixed-site clinics:
Other clinics are conducted in community partner facilities or our mobile coach brings health care services to clients.
Primary dental care
At Mercy Clinics Downtown and North, preventive, primary and restorative dental services are offered to
persons of low income, the homeless and HIV-positive clients.
Social services and case management

Education and family health promotion

"The Mercy Moves Through Me" community service award
The Mercy Moves Through Me Community Service Award is presented annually to individuals or organizations for committed and outstanding service or advocacy for the underserved. The award was inaugurated in 2005 in celebration of Saint Joseph’s Mercy Care Services’ 20th anniversary year.
Volunteer program
Mercy Care Services was created by volunteers who have remained a central force in its more than 20-year history of living the ideals of the Sisters of Mercy—embracing those in need, healing the sick and advocating for the underserved. The volunteer program creates opportunities for individuals to contribute their talents, skills and knowledge to provide special assistance to our clients and programs.
Our volunteer program offers opportunities for licensed medical providers such as, family practitioners, pediatricians, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, dentists, dental assistants, pharmacists, nurse practitioners and registered nurses. Also needed are language interpreters and assistants for clerical/administrative support, social services, homeless outreach, residential supportive services and Hispanic health promotion.
