ATLANTA – (January 5, 2009) – Max A. Shapiro, MD, Metro Atlanta Gastroenterology, has opened offices in the Saint Joseph’s Specialty Center at Cowles Clinic and began seeing patients December 10th. The practices main offices are located on the Saint Joseph’s Hospital campus in Atlanta, GA.
“We’re very excited about expanding services to include gastroenterology at the Saint Joseph’s Specialty Center,” says Vickie Jenkins, director, physician services and community relations for Saint Joseph’s East Georgia.
Dr. Shapiro specializes in colon cancer screening, GERD/Reflux disease, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, as well as liver disease, and performs upper endoscopies and colonoscopies.
Dr. Shapiro earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University, Providence, RI and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He completed his internship and residency at Emory University and a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Georgetown University and Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Shapiro will be performing procedures at Saint Joseph’s East Georgia, in addition to seeing patients at the Specialty Center. Saint Joseph’s Specialty Center at Cowles Clinic currently offers vascular, orthopaedic, podiatry, gynecological, general surgery and gastroenterology services and is located at 1000 Cowles Clinic Way, Cypress Cottage C-300, Greensboro.
